Raymond's Story
Life
My name is Raymond Reinhold Holmes, Jr., son of Raymond Reinhold Holmes and Judy Holmes-Martinos. I was born on March 19, 1982 and started growing up in Pendel, PA (in Bucks County). I have one sister, Naomi, who is two years younger than me.
I lived in several places growing up...my parents always moved around a lot. First because we didn't have any money, and then because my Mom joined the Military until 1998. I grew up in Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, Washington State, Texas, and then back to Virginia, where I currently reside. Unfortunately, the thing which I suffered from the most because of moving around a lot is I never really learned how to make friends or even get to know and communicate with people. That started to change only a few years ago. However, the friends which I did make along the way are really important to me and I hope to one day find them again and do something to be a blessing to them because they were a blessing to me.
Currently, I am twenty-five years old, single, and live in an apartment with two roommates. I'm also currently looking for my next job. I started working when I was eighteen at Wal-Mart in El Paso, TX. That job wasn't really fun at all, and it only lasted me six months. In fact, none of my jobs have really been that fun, and haven't lasted too long. My longest job was Target, and I was there for about two and a half years. See, I never graduated from high school (I did get a GED), and I didn't go to college.
To be honest with you, my life has really been unstable; as a child, as a teenager, and now as an adult. Nothing ever really stays the same, and there's always one big dissaster after another. I really wish that would change. One of the things I'm doing to help my life change for...Expand for more
the better is I am enrolling into college. I don't have the money for it so hopefully I can get financial aid and fill out student loans.
My life definately is not the way I ever imagined it growing up. If you would have asked me as a student in elementary school what I was going to be when I grew up, I would have told you a doctor, then a teacher, and a scientist. I used to draw and write short stories, so I would even tell you I'd be a writer or a comic book artist. One of my dream jobs has always been to work for the Walt Disney Company making classics like The Lion King and Lady and the Tramp; in fact I even wrote a story for a third Lion King movie.
Right now I am just living to try to pay the bills. It seems like no matter what I do, they keep on pileing even higher and higher. I am going to try and work hard in order to change it. All my life I've been in poverty. Growing up my family was on food stamps, and would live in run down places, and even in a school bus. It kind of stayed along with me, and I am going to change that.
What I want to do now is I want to write stories. I want to start drawing again. I always have ideas for movies, and can look at an object or walk inside a room and a plot magically pops into my head. I can see the whole story unfold at once, as if I were watching a movie. The only real challenge I ever have is learning how to get what's in my head to flow through my hands and onto paper. Hopefully that is one of the things college can teach me how to do.
Today, I want to be a writer, actor, producer, music artist, and rock star. I am searching for what I need to do in order to pursue those dreams. The biggest thing is knowing where to start. Once I find my beginning I can continue on without an end.
